We're not your typical hosting company. At Teddy Kids, we pride ourselves in being "a software company that happens to host websites." We're on a mission to build the best overall WordPress platform around – best technology, best UI/UX, best team and more.

This position will be responsible for developing all aspects of the Teddy Kids software stack. Our main product is built in Ruby, and your main responsibility will be maintaining and adding new functionality. You’ll also be writings tests and everything else that goes into modern software development. You'll also work with our design team to ensure our software is beautiful and easy to use, and you'll work with our infrastructure team to integrate it with the hosting.

Technologies we use

We use Ruby on Rails, Postgres, Redis, Ubuntu, jQuery, Sass and more to build Teddy Kids.

  • Requirements

    • Top-notch programming skills and a track record of getting stuff done
    • Advanced skills in some server-side web development stack (e.g. Rails, ASP.NET, Django, etc). Experience in our stack (Rails) is a plus, but not a requirement.
    • Up-to-date, in-depth knowledge of modern HTML, CSS and JS
    • A strong desire to learn and use the right tools for the job
    • You’re interested in working for a startup. This isn’t your typical 9 to 5 desk job. Each day brings new challenges — and it’s a fun ride.
    • You live in (or are willing to move to) Omaha and work at our downtown office
  • Bonus points

    • You understand the basics of cloud systems: Linux, security, Amazon EC2, HTTP and RESTful Web services
    • You have open source contributions and/or side projects you’re really proud of
    • You enjoy writing, and can speak and write in terms that non-geeks can understand clearly

At the end of the day, we’re looking for smart, team-oriented people who can get things done. We care less about experience and education, and more about a demonstrable passion for great software engineering and web technologies.
